My name is Zsolt Kátay and I created Zsolt Kátay Designs as a solution for those searching for decorative pottery that is unique, decorative, and affordable. "Playing in the mud" for generations the old-fashioned art of fine pottery making has remained a tradition in our family. We create our richly embellished decorative pottery, with those swirling symbols and patterns that has made them unique over the years, as a way of passing on our Hungarian heritage.

Every piece is an original product that was handcrafted by a combination of old techniques. Each individual pottery piece is hand thrown on a potter's wheel where the clay is worked, pressed, and built all by hand. There are no slip molds or mass production of any kind. Batches of pottery are then fired after which the most artful part of the pottery process is begun: the hand carving and/or painting. It takes several hours. Heritage is used as the source of inspiration for those beautiful flowers, birds, and ornamental designs. Symbols, color, shape or design may vary and sizes and patterns may differ from item to item. All of hand-carved vases are environmental; free of lead.
